New Decking for the summer?

If your decking is around ten years old then it may need to be replaced, especially if it it hasn't been regularly maintained.

What timber should you use?

Most DIY stores will want to sell you a treated softwood. This tends to be the most popular and cost effective solution and should last 10 to 15 years depending on maintenance.

Another option is a hardwood but you can expect to pay almost three times more for a hardwood.

Composite timber which is a plastic and timber composite material is becoming very popular. The downside with using the material is that it can become slippy after rain. However, it requires very little maintenance and has a longer life.

A deck is a lovely feature in any garden, large or small, and provide an attractive dining and relaxation area in the garden.
